Sparkle at Home Regency Style

Sparkle at Home Regency Style

As fans of entertainment here at Dotmaison, we’re always keen to take on an influence from the big names of the TV and film world. Bridgerton is one of those shows that has loomed large in the home styling world over the last few years, and we love to explore the themes set out in this and other period programmes.

The term ‘Regencycore’ has even been coined for interiors that owe much to 18th and 19th-century styling. As Bridgerton has recently returned to our screens, we felt it’s a great time to delve deeper to see what’s possible by harking back to past treasures.

A key part of the Regency style is using a variety of colours and patterns in the make-up of a product. This is also a key part of the gorgeous creativity seen in the 19th Century arts and crafts movement headed by William Morris.
Drawing inspiration from the natural world, the above Morris & Co Vine Teal & Lilac Bedding is a lavish addition to the bedroom. Composed of a superb quality duvet cover and pillowcase set, the bedding is wonderfully illustrated with a pattern first made in 1874.

Produced using a superb quality cotton sateen, the bedding is perfect for a lovely furnish that has its influence in the past but its capacity for indulgence firmly in the present.

A wonderful sense of refined beauty is also on offer with the gorgeous mug and teapot set from Morris and Co. The classically made set provides a memorable way to serve and enjoy a cup of tea.
Presenting iconic prints from the William Morris stable, the intertwined vines, colourful blooms and delicate plants of the design serve as a gentle reminder to enjoy the natural world. Ideal for creating a peaceful and relaxed tea time, the set is another brilliant look back at past designs produced fascinatingly.

The whole idea of ‘Regencycore’ is a remixing of the past. At the heart of the interior design style of the Regency period (early 18th century) was a willingness to make use of fine jewellery and precious metals. Designers firmly based in the ‘now’ can process this with fun and off-the-wall ideas that bring everything right up to date.

A stunning combination of the surreal and enduring gold sculptured style is what the above Seletti Tetris Mirror provides beautifully. The cute statement piece fits brilliantly wherever desired, with the game-inspired staggered glass certain to provoke plenty of comment!
Bold and joyous, just like the playful and exaggerated Regency style, the mirror boasts an unforgettable look.
