The owner of the beautiful Casa Talìa guesthouse in Modica, Sicily, Marco Giunta describes slow living as “forgetting the phone and just drinking a glass of wine while enjoying the view.” That shouldn’t prove to be a problem in this luxurious and unusual space.
Architects Marco and Viviana Haddad, who also manage the guesthouse, converted twelve small villas into the six suites which surround a central courtyard. The pair used local stone and decorated tiles to restore walls and floors, at the same time adding regional flavor to their designs. The bamboo lined ceilings frame the rooms beautifully, and the startling effect of the cave interiors contrast perfectly with the gorgeous furniture on show.
