Style on Repeat – Inspirational Mugs and Tableware

Style on Repeat – Inspirational Mugs and Tableware

Here at Dotmaison we believe that  a combination of creativity and practicality can go a long way to improving the everyday. Just think of the things you have in your home around you. It’s the items that you rely on everyday that really make a difference. If they have been designed and produced to a high quality standard, then the actions we take for granted can be brightened up a little bit more.

The taste-makers at Repeat Repeat are only too aware of the importance of imbuing a little luxury  in life’s essentials. The Stoke based company of two – Gillian Naylor and Mark Faulkner – have been fine-tuning their beautiful china pottery creations for over three decades, and have picked up a whole host of devoted fans along the way.

Key to the team’s success is a desire to fuse traditional pottery techniques with contemporary designs. The Silhouette, Lamb mug (above) from the duo is a case in point. This delicately pleasing mug uses a bold graphic with a wryly amusing joke alongside age-old craftsmanship skills to produce a beautiful piece. The bone china mug is durable and tough, with the strong casing both microwave and dishwasher safe.

In order to create such striking ideas, Repeat Repeat focus on the traditional means of production used in and around Stoke in England, the area known, quite appropriately, as The Potteries. The various objects are made  by pouring liquid clay into a hand-made mould. It can be a pain-staking process, but the time and effort spent really pays off. It’s part of the pair’s aim to create engaging precious everyday objects that are lovely to look at and use.

The collection of Skinny Jugs from Repeat Repeat also put these ideas into action.  Funky and stylish, the jugs are available in quarter, half pint and pint sizes – or small, medium and large, depending on your preference! Making use of the company’s dedication to striking modernist styles, the jugs make excellent use of a repeated geometric pattern. Indeed, this trademark use of repeated shapes is why Naylor and Faulkner originally named their company Repeat Repeat!

The above Woodland Pink Hare Mug is further evidence of their skill in creating comforting and cozy images perfect for transporting us to a state of blissful relaxation. Imagine a warming drink taken in this delightful item; ideal for daydreaming and chilling out, it is another beautiful item from this most talented of design teams!
