This fascinating looking wood-like material is formed by gluing newspaper sheets together and then cutting or sanding down to uncover the grain patterns within. Named Newspaperwood, the product was created by Netherlands based designer Meike Meijer and studio Vij5.

Newspaperwood, which made its first appearance at VenturaLambrate in Milan earlier this year, has been embraced by designers including Christian Kocx, Breg Hanssen and Floris Hovers who have applied it to furniture and jewellery design. The versatile substance creates a highly original look, as these pictures clearly demonstrate.
