Hugely respected Japanese designer Tokujin Yoshioka’s The Invisibles Light series of furniture for Kartell is like nothing you’ve ever seen before. Or rather, like nothing you’ve almost seen, as the pieces are so streamlined and light they are practically transparent. The clear acrylic strips the designs are made from are as near as possible to invisible.

Recently presented at Milan Design Week 2011, Yoshioka’s subtle and fluid designs for chairs, benches and tables bring a level of elegant sophistication and innovation to furniture items.

Yoshioka, who began his career working with Issey Miyake, has a reputation for creating original pieces with an eccentric twist and these pieces are testament to that vision.
