The game of Dominoes usually conjures up images of elderly players quietly sitting in traditional pubs, sullenly drinking ale while considering their next move. Carbon Design’s cool idea for time-keeping couldn’t be further away from this perception. Taking three instantly recognisable Domino pieces and using them together as a clock, the American designers have cleverly subverted the iconic and ancient objects.
The foot tall pieces are built with articulating “dots” that flip back-and-forth between black and white to keep time. The pieces can hang on the wall or stand freely and Carbon have subtly instilled a smooth, quiet mechanism that creates a relaxing effect.
