No, your eyes are not deceiving you. Or are they? This ingenious chair from Seattle-based designer Peter Bristol gives the impression that it has been magically sliced apart; however it is in fact structurally supported so that it is perfectly safe to sit down on. A plate hidden by a thick carpet stabilizes the cantilevered seat, while three ‘stumps’ give the sawn-off impression.
At Dotmaison we love a quirky idea and this chair certainly strikes a neat balance between unusual art and smart design. Its striking look and the off-the-wall idea behind it is sure to appeal across a wide spectrum of furniture lovers. As Peter himself says, he is working to ‘refine ideas that should exist and bring them to life in the right way.’ With the Cut Chair, we think he’s done just that.
