Inspiration can, and will, take many forms. For Benjamin Hubert, the inspiration for this supremely elegant armchair came straight from the past. To be precise, from Italian Renaissance clothing, notably the 16th century style sleeves with puffed up shoulders seen on the well to do of that fashionably eclectic period.
The pleated leather stretches over the base, bringing the wooden frame below it to the fore, in what is a beautifully evocative design. Some of the mysterious glamour of late medieval and the Romantic period of Italy is called firmly to mind in Hubert’s creation.
Originally coming to attention as the winner of a competition celebrating Italian brand Poltrona Frau‘s 100th birthday, the Juliet signifies the recognition of a prodigious talent.
