Geoffrey Harcourt graduated from High Wycombe School of Art in 1955 and from the Royal College of Art in 1960 where he won a number of scholarships to travel to the US. After his travels he was able to secure a major client in the form of Dutch furniture manufacturer Artifort, for whom he designed a number of classics, many of which are still in production.
The F978 lounge chair was designed in 1968 and was reintroduced in 2006 by Artifort. The chair is made up of a hard polyurethane shell onto which is placed a foam and Dacron upholstery. The base is polished chrome and aluminium. Being supremely comfortable with its ergonomic design and super soft cushioning, the chair is certainly something special. For it have lasted so long it must be.
