As we approach the end of winter – finally! – we can start to look forward to some warmer weather and sunshine. With is comes the opportunity to enjoy the best of the outdoors, both abroad on holiday and closer to home.
Dining al-fresco is one of the great joys of the longer afternoons and sun rays. Just picnicking in a park or on a holiday beach is a great way to while away a few hours. Great food and drink, good friends and a bit of sunshine is just the thing for a relaxing break. Here are a few tips to get the most out of a trip out and about.
1) Hitting the beach.
When preparing for a day at the beach, make sure you have that most essential of items packed and ready – the beach towel. Without it, food and necessary items are sure to get sandy! The best towels provide a durable level of comfort on the floor and are easy to clean and maintain. Once you’ve got that sorted out you can progress to the most important part – the food and drink…
2) Food hampers, cutlery and glasses
Transporting food and drink from car to beach or on a long walk requires a reliable form of rucksack, hamper or carrier. Inside, ensure to pack up with the best cutlery, plates and bowls for your dining purposes. Of course, make sure to pack up your favourite food and drinks as well. A flask is another convenient way to enjoy hot and cold drinks when you’re roaming around the countryside – this one from Orla Kiely is a finely produced classic of this type.
3) Fun in the sun – games and entertainment
A great part of enjoying an afternoon at the beach or in the park is the chance to have some fun and games. Old school entertainment like frisbee or football can provide kids and grown-ups with the best way to burn off some calories after all those snacks. Or, if you’re into more up to date distractions perhaps lie back with some reading on a kindle or e-reader. Whatever your preference, there are always simple ways to improve the day!
Enjoy the sunshine (hope it is here soon)!
